Working on a Superyacht…

You will visit some of the most beautiful places in the world: from secluded bays to exclusive marinas and resorts, from famous cities to unknown islands.

You will receive a generous salary, which may well be tax free (Your wages will be paid tax free and will be in charge of your own tax affairs. It is best to seek tax advice from a specialist).

All accommodation and food will be paid for. All work uniform will be provided as well as most basic toiletries.  With no overheads you get to keep all your salary for yourself!

You will get 4-6 weeks holiday a year and receive one paid flight home a year.

You will be working in an ever expanding industry with a well structured career path. By gaining experience and qualifications you can work your way up the ranks to run your own department or even captain your own yacht. Some boats will even pay for their crew do further training.

  1. Identify your area of interest: do you want to be a deckhand, an engineer, a stewardess or a chef?
  2. Learn about the industry and about the position you are interested in (you’re doing that right now!)
  3. Find out what qualifications you need to make a start in the industry
  4. Find out where to get qualified and how much it will cost
  5. Write a superyacht CV
  6. Find out where to go and when to go there
  7. Sign up with crew agents.
  8. Network, network, network!
  9. Walk the docks and get daywork
  10. Ace the interview & start working full time on a Superyacht!
